David Helmers

Senior Partner

An entrepreneur and business owner, David has founded and co-founded several companies in areas as wide-ranging as technology, real estate development, and the music industry. In 2019, David brought dozens of top national musical performers and over 30,000 fans together for the Railbird Music Festival held on the Grounds of Keeneland Race Track in Lexington, KY. Railbird is set to return in 2020 with an even more impressive line-up. 


He is also the co-founder of Wild Duck Investments LLC, a micro angel venture capital firm, along with Edelen Ventures Senior Partner, Phil Holoubek. David co-hosts the weekly show Block or Charge on the Adult Swim Network with his childhood best friend and former University of Kentucky and NBA basketball star, Rex Chapman and manages Chapman’s charitable foundation. 


David also spent several years as a defense lawyer, providing general insurance defense, medical malpractice defense and municipality defense, representing individuals and families in civil litigation arising from personal injury and wrongful death and has successfully litigated complex product liability and medical negligence claims. 


He holds a law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law and a Bachelors in Psychology from Rollins College. David  spent late 2012 and early 2013 traveling the world with his wife, Anne, his daughter, Laney, and his son, Lee.
